The First EYEFORTX Meeting in Prague

First meeting of all project participants was held in Prague at Charles University on March 19 – 20th, 2015.

During the first meeting representants of all partners were present.

During two days all partners introduced their workplace and the project topics. We further discussed issues concerning cooperation and organisation, such as the ways of shipping samples and form of communication between partners.

  • Improve current protocols for corneo-scleral tissue organ culturing and for ex vivo engineering. (Yolanda Lorenzo Corrales)
  • Cytokeratins in ex vivo culture of limbal epithelial cells (LECs). (Agate Noer)
  • Centre for Eye Research - Norwegian Eye Bank. (Kristiane Haug Berg)
  • The comet assay for DNA damage and repair: Applications in genotoxicity testing and human biomonitoring. (Andrew Collins)

University Hospital Kralovske Vinohrady

  • Evaluation of factors influencing big bubble creation in donor corneas. (Pavel Studený)
  • Endothelial damage using several mechanical and chemical insults. (Deli Křížová)

Charles University Prague

  • Tissue engineering of genetically competent corneal/conjunctival cells for subsequent grafting in human medicine. (Kateřina Jirsová)
  • Harvesting and culturing of goblet cells. (Andrea Stádníková)

Apart from scientific part, our first meeting also included social events. Norwegian partners had an opportunity to try meals from the typical Czech cuisine during common dinner and lunch and we spent beautiful afternoon during guided sightseeing tour in the Prague city centre.
